Total Home – La Ceiba, Honduras

The Jerome UMC  sponsors a mission work  team that helps to provide basic shelter for a family in Honduras that cannot afford to build or buy their own home.  This is done through Total Home Corporation in conjunction with the Church of the Grand Commission in La Ceiba, Honduras.  The basic housing consists of building a 400 square foot concrete block house with sleeping loft.

Utilities may not be available therefore a bathroom and electricity are optional.  Our construction crew of up to six workers helps provide labor to build the house in one week.  We also furnish the funds for supervision and construction materials.

This is an annual mission with the goal of sending a construction crew to build one house per year.  Contact Charlie Bynner (cwbynner@columbus.rr.com)  or 873-5188.

Total Health– La Ceiba, Honduras

JUMC continues to share the vision of providing quality, reliable and consistent medical care to the poor of Central America, by annually sending a team to La Ceiba, Honduras.  We are always looking for medical personnel to join us.  With such great need in so much of the world we have an obligation to invest our resources in a way that glorifies God and send his message of hope, salvation, and unconditional love to those less fortunate.  Through consistent and reliable health, dental, and eye care clinics, families are achieving a better life.  It is through hard work and support by JUMC that makes this possible. Contact Debbie Trego (addikus@aol.com) or 889-6041.

A  Child is Waiting

Through World Vision’s Child Sponsorship you have the opportunity to demonstrate Christ’s love to a child in need. Child Sponsorship is a way for you to make a real and lasting difference in helping a child reach his/her God-given potential. Your gifts provide access to: clean water, better nutrition, basic health care, education, and economic development opportunities for his/her family and their community. Plus, you have the opportunity to develop a meaningful, lasting friendship by corresponding through letters and cards with your child. Jerome Church will have an "A Child is Waiting" sign-up table in the lobby on April 26, May 3, and May 10. Currently members of our church family are sponsoring 31 children. You can learn more about this program at: www.worldvision.org . If you have any questions and/or would like to sponsor a child please call or e-mail Valerie Altfater at 889-8421 or altfaterobx@sbcglobal.net

Operation Christmas Child - OCC

The children of Jerome Church fill shoe boxes with Christmas presents for less fortunate children all over the world.     These boxes are shipped to a processing center, and then go to over 90 countries around the world.  This year boxes were shipped with the help of the United Methodist Women’s organization.  Our little ones participate in many other mission projects as they develop a heart for serving and loving others as they mature. Contact Donna Montgomery (donna.jumc@gmail.com) or call 873-8851.
