Changing the world through love

Love God and love people by serving in missions

Be a World-Changer

The people of Jerome Church are committed to living out our call to be world-changing disciples of Jesus through the ways that we love and serve in our community and world. Participating in a mission can be life-changing for you, and for those that you are serving. We base our mission efforts on the Biblical foundation of Acts 1:8, reaching out through missions locally, nationally and internationally. LOCAL MISSIONS

Church for All People (Downtown Columbus)
Jerome Church partners with the Community Development and Church for All People in downtown Columbus for a number of ongoing and annual mission events. Weekly on Friday afternoons, Soup for the Soul volunteers make and serve soup and other items to homeless and others in the community served by the Church for All People. Jerome Church also serves a Thanksgiving Dinner at the Church for All People each year.
Boxes of Hope

Jerome Church has formed a partnership with Hopewell Elementary (Dublin City Schools) for the Boxes of Hope program. Boxes of Hope provides a box for the highest-need families at Hopewell Elementary on a regular distribution cycle. Each box contains items handpicked for each student and family, including educational items such as new books, STEM toys, and family activities such as board games, puzzles, and other age-appropriate activities. Additionally, each box contains a variety of non-perishable food items and hygiene products for the family to utilize over the next month(s). These boxes bring a sense of hope, comfort and belonging to the children and families who receive them, as they are a tangible and practical gift of love shown to them.

Each box is uniquely curated and packed with love by the Jerome Church congregation and volunteers, and delivered to the families via trusted school representatives to maintain the privacy and security for the families. You can support this ministry by donating items to go in the boxes by shopping the Amazon Wish List or purchasing items at local stores and dropping of to Jerome Church. Gift cards are welcome to AMC theater, local bowling alleys and restaurants. When dropping off items, please mark “Boxes of Hope.”

The Diaper Angels
The Diaper Angels mission is committed to working to end diaper need in our local communities. The Diaper Angels partner with local organizations such as food pantries, free stores and shelters, to provide diapers to families in need.
Diapers are collected through donations and diaper drives, and are organized at the church and then distributed to various partner agencies in the area. Donations of diapers and wipes are always needed and can be dropped off to the Jerome Church front porch at any time. Volunteers are needed to help with collection, sorting, distribution, and other tasks including seeking funding opportunities and new partner agencies.
Habitat for Humanity
Jerome Church partners with Habitat for Humanity to build the walls of a home during our Wall Build Event in September of each year. Through a partnership with Help Build Hope, our congregation and community members are able to build the walls of a family home together in one morning. These walls then get transported to a local (Ohio) Habitat for Humanity organization to be used in building a new home. The 2024 wall build event will be held on September 14, 2024.
Early Response Team (UMCOR ERT)

Through our United Methodist connection with UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), Jerome Church has a growing Early Response Team that serves in local and national disaster response within the United States and its territories. This team supports local efforts to accomplish immediate relief and long-term recovery while offering compassionate ministry in the aftermath of disasters.

UMCOR’s Early Response Team (ERT) training program supports conference preparedness and immediate response efforts. Key activities for conference ERT and other response teams are supplying survivors with food, water, shelter and help with mucking out and cleaning up. UMCOR offers emergency financial assistance in the aftermath of a disaster to support local relief work. Regular ERT training and certification opportunities are available through the West Ohio Conference and Jerome Church.

NATIONAL MISSIONS

Appalachia Service Project

A home repair and building ministry through which volunteers and Appalachia Service Project (ASP) staff repair and build homes for low income families in rural Central Appalachia. Jerome Church sends an adult mission team to this service project each fall.

UMCOR

In addition to our Early Response Team that serves locally and nationally, Jerome Church supports the work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) through regular giving, special offerings, and relief kit packing. To learn more about UMCOR, visit their website here.
